Deiten Lachance

Catcher · Cleveland Guardians · MiLB · active · OU 2026

Quebec slugger who led the nation in home runs down the stretch for OU's champions

Deiten Lachance is from Sherbrooke, Quebec, and played at École secondaire De Mortagne. He came to the United States to play at McLennan Community College in Texas. As a sophomore there he hit .380 with 21 home runs and 104 RBIs and was a second-team NJCAA All-American.

Lachance transferred to Oklahoma for 2026 and started 64 games at catcher and first base. He went homerless in his first 31 games, then led the nation with 18 home runs over his last 33. In May he hit three home runs against Tennessee, tying a program record and becoming the first Sooner to do it since 2000. He finished the season hitting .327 and led OU in hits (81), home runs (18), RBIs (69) and slugging (.609).

He was even better in the postseason. He was the NCAA Atlanta Regional's Most Outstanding Player after a go-ahead grand slam against Georgia Tech, and he homered in each of his first two at-bats in Game 1 of the College World Series Finals against North Carolina. He made the CWS All-Tournament Team and was a third-team All-American (D1Baseball, Perfect Game) as OU won the national title.

The Cleveland Guardians drafted him in the sixth round (184th overall) in 2026. In August he moved up to the Single-A Hill City Howlers, where he hit .281 in 17 games. As of October 9, 2026, he is a catcher in the Guardians organization.
