Privacy policy
What this magazine stores about you, why, and how to take it back. This is the publication’s notice, written in plain language. It is not a law firm’s advice.

Who we are
Sooners Blog is an independent magazine about former Oklahoma players in the NFL, NBA, MLB, AUSL, and USA Softball. It is not the University of Oklahoma, and it is not any league or team.
For privacy requests, write to desk@sooners.pipeline. That is the list desk. The publication has not appointed a representative in the EU or the UK.
What we collect
You can read the magazine without an account and without giving a name.
The Daily. Subscribe on this magazine posts the address to Mailchimp, or opens Mailchimp’s hosted form. You are not asked for a name. Mailchimp sends the opt-in email. This site does not keep a copy of the address.
This browser. The theme you pick, the Daily addresses saved on this device, and a sample sponsor or list-desk sign-in are stored in local storage on this device. They are not sent to a Sooners Blog server.
Measurement. The site loads Google Analytics (measurement ID G-TTSTPP8Y9G). Google may set cookies and receive your IP address, browser, and the pages you open.
Fonts. Type is loaded from Google Fonts. Opening a page sends your IP address to Google for that request.
A signed-in session. If you open the magazine from a signed-in Grok session, the site may keep a session cookie so that sign-in holds. Readers who arrive on their own do not need an account.
Why, and the legal basis
The Daily is sent only if you ask for it. The legal basis is consent. You give it on Mailchimp’s hosted form. The confirmation click in Mailchimp’s opt-in email is the second yes. Until you click that confirmation, the letter is not sent.
That second step is there because email advertising to a person needs prior agreement under the ePrivacy rules, and because consent has to be something we can show.
The theme and the on-device copy of the list are stored so the site can do the thing you just asked for. Google Analytics is measurement of how the magazine is read. It is not required to read a story. Device storage and analytics cookies are covered by the ePrivacy rules on information stored in the browser, which in the EU and UK generally need consent unless the storage is strictly necessary.
We do not sell addresses. We do not use the list for anything other than the Daily. The soft opt-in for existing customers does not apply: there is no sale on this site.
Mailchimp
When an audience is connected, a new address is sent to Mailchimp with status “pending.” Mailchimp emails you a confirmation. If you confirm, the status becomes subscribed and the Daily can be sent. If you do not confirm, you are not a subscriber.
The address is tagged “The Daily.” If you previously unsubscribed, this form will not put you back on the list. Mailchimp processes the address in the United States so it can send that confirmation and, later, the letter.
Mailchimp is not connected yet. Until it is, the address stays in this browser only and no confirmation email is sent. Removing an address on the list desk deletes that browser copy. It does not, by itself, unsubscribe an address inside Mailchimp.
How long we keep it
The browser copy stays until you remove it on the list desk or clear site data. A Mailchimp address stays until you unsubscribe or ask for it to be deleted. Analytics is kept for the retention period set on that Google Analytics property. The theme and the sample sign-ins stay until you clear them. A session cookie lasts for that sign-in.
Who else sees it
Google, for Analytics and for the fonts. Mailchimp, for the letter, once the audience is connected. Both can process data in the United States. We do not give the list to sponsors. Card payment for an advertisement is handled by Stripe. This site does not store the card number.
Roster and wire pages are compiled from public reporting. That work does not attach your email to a player or a story.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of the address we hold, ask for a correction, ask for deletion, and withdraw consent. Withdrawal is the unsubscribe link in a letter, or a note to the desk. It does not affect mail already sent. You can also object to measurement and restrict processing.
If you are in the EEA or the UK, you can complain to your data protection authority. Those rights sit on top of this notice. They are not something this page can waive.
The letter is not for children. Do not enter an address for anyone under 16.
Changes
If this notice changes in a way that affects the letter, the date at the top will change. The current version is the one on this page. The rules for using the magazine are in the terms of service.
