Amath M'Baye

Bordeaux-born forward who became a European champion

Amath M'Baye was born in Bordeaux, France, and is of Senegalese descent. He went to high school at Stoneridge Prep in California and began college at Wyoming, averaging 12 points and 5.7 rebounds and earning All-Mountain West honorable mention.

He transferred to Oklahoma, sat out a year under NCAA transfer rules and played one season for the Sooners in 2012–13. He averaged 10.1 points and 5.1 rebounds and made third-team All-Big 12.

M'Baye started his pro career in Japan with the Mitsubishi Diamond Dolphins (2013–2016), averaging 20.2 points. Since then he has collected trophies across Europe: an Italian league title with Olimpia Milano (2018), the Basketball Champions League with Virtus Bologna (2019), where he made the All-Champions League second team, a Turkish league title with Anadolu Efes (2023) and two VTB United League titles with CSKA Moscow (2024 and 2025). He spent 2025–26 with Paris Basketball.

On October 6, 2026, CSKA Moscow announced that M'Baye was returning to the club through the end of the 2026–27 season. As of October 8, 2026, he is back with CSKA.
