Adrian Cooper
1991 · Round 4 · Pick 103 · TE · Pittsburgh Steelers
Adrian Cooper was born in Denver and played at South High School. At Oklahoma he lettered from 1988 to 1990, mostly as a blocking tight end in the wishbone offense, during the NCAA probation years after the Barry Switzer era. His best season was 1990, when he caught 13 passes for 301 yards (23.2 per catch) and was named All-Big Eight. Pittsburgh drafted him in the fourth round, 103rd overall, in 1991. Injuries to the tight ends ahead of him pushed him into the lineup as a rookie, and he made the PFWA All-Rookie Team and won the Steelers' Joe Greene Great Performance Award. His last catch as a Steeler was a touchdown in the 1993 playoffs. He then played for Minnesota and San Francisco, finishing with 87 catches, 1,037 yards and five touchdowns. The Oklahoman wrote on October 22, 1988: "Three winters ago, tight end Adrian Cooper of South High School in Denver turned down a football scholarship offer from Colorado and signed with Oklahoma."
