Antonio Perkins
2005 · Round 4 · Pick 103 · CB · Cleveland Browns
Antonio Perkins was born in Lawton, Oklahoma, and lettered in football, basketball and track at Lawton High School. He started 30 of 47 games at cornerback for Oklahoma (2000–2004) and was on the 2000 national title team. Against UCLA in 2003 he set NCAA single-game records with three punt-return touchdowns and 277 punt-return yards. His eight career punt-return touchdowns rank second in NCAA history, tied with Wes Welker and Ted Ginn Jr. That season he was a unanimous All-American and first-team All-Big 12. Cleveland drafted him in the fourth round, 103rd overall, in 2005, and he played in parts of two seasons there. He later spent time with Indianapolis and Toronto but didn't play a regular-season game for either. He is retired. The Lawton Constitution wrote on January 2, 2005: "Perkins, a senior cornerback for Oklahoma and a Lawton High graduate, will have that opportunity again Tuesday night when the Sooners take on Southern Cal for the Bowl Championship Series National Championship in the Orange Bowl." The Oklahoman wrote on September 21, 2003: "It was one of three record-breaking punt returns for Perkins."
