Baker Mayfield
2018 · Round 1 · Pick 1 · QB · Cleveland Browns
Baker Mayfield was born in Austin, Texas, and went 25-2 as Lake Travis High School's starter, winning the 2011 Class 4A state title. He walked on at Texas Tech, then transferred to Oklahoma. He was a three-time first-team All-Big 12 pick (2015–2017), a two-time first-team All-American, a two-time Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year, and the NCAA leader in passer rating and completion percentage in 2016 and 2017. He won the 2017 Heisman Trophy, the first winner since the scholarship era began in the 1950s to have started his college career as a walk-on. Cleveland drafted him first overall in 2018, and his 27 touchdown passes set a rookie record at the time. He led the Browns to their first playoff win since 1994, then played for Carolina and the Rams before joining Tampa Bay in 2023. With the Bucs he made Pro Bowls in 2023 and 2024. His career totals are 29,140 passing yards and 199 touchdown passes, and his 105.9 postseason passer rating is the best in NFL history (minimum 150 attempts). He is active with Tampa Bay. Tidbit: his father chose his middle name, Reagan, after President Ronald Reagan.
