Beryl Clark
1940 · Round 16 · Pick 141 · B · Chicago Cardinals
Beryl Clark was born in Cherokee, Oklahoma, and played at Cherokee High School. He played at Oklahoma from 1936 to 1939. As a senior he completed 40 of 66 passes, the best completion rate in the country, led OU with 680 yards from scrimmage, and led the Big Six with 50 points. He was a second-team All-American. The Chicago Cardinals drafted him in the 16th round, 141st overall, in 1940, and he played 10 games for them that season. In World War II he flew "the hump" between Burma and China. Tidbit: he and teammate Earl Crowder grew up on neighboring farms and went to the same schools, college and pro team. He died in Cherokee on January 15, 2000. The Daily Oklahoman's December 10, 1939 draft story (NewsBank page 47) lists "Beryl Clark, Oklahoma, back" under the Chicago Cardinals.
