Bobby Boyd
1960 · Round 10 · Pick 119 · DB · Baltimore Colts
Bobby Boyd was born in Dallas and was a two-time all-state pick at Garland High School. As a senior he ran for 1,719 yards and 26 touchdowns and also made 10 interceptions. He committed to SMU, then switched to Oklahoma, where he played halfback and quarterback for Bud Wilkinson and was first-team All-Big Eight in 1959. The Baltimore Colts drafted him in the 10th round, 119th overall, in 1960. He spent all nine seasons there as a cornerback, was a three-time first-team All-Pro, and led the NFL in interceptions in 1965. He retired with 57 interceptions, then third in NFL history. He is the only cornerback on the NFL 1960s All-Decade Team who isn't in the Pro Football Hall of Fame. He won Super Bowl V as a Colts assistant and died on August 28, 2017. Draft note: Pro Football Reference's OU draft table also lists him as a 1960 AFL pick of the Los Angeles Chargers, with no round or pick shown. The Daily Oklahoman wrote on November 14, 1959 (NewsBank page 37): "Against K-State, Bobby Boyd quarterbacked the alternates so sharply they scored four of the five touchdowns registered."
