Brodney Pool

2005 · Round 2 · Pick 34 · S · Cleveland Browns

Brodney Pool was born in Corpus Christi, Texas, and was a five-star recruit at Westbury High School in Houston, where he set a school record with 11 interceptions as a senior. He became Oklahoma's starting free safety in 2003, when his seven interceptions ranked fourth in school history. In 2004 he led the team in tackles and was first-team All-Big 12, and he then entered the draft early. Cleveland drafted him in the second round, 34th overall, in 2005. He became the Browns' starting free safety, and on November 18, 2007, he returned an interception 100 yards against Baltimore, a franchise record. He later played two seasons with the New York Jets and spent time with Dallas. His career totals are 367 tackles and 13 interceptions, and he is retired. Tulsa World wrote on January 15, 2005: "Despite the caution of his coaches and parents, Oklahoma junior safety Brodney Pool has declared himself eligible for the National Football League Draft April 23-24." The Oklahoman wrote on January 22, 2011: "Pool has battled migraines since high school - his mother and sister get the debilitating headaches, too - and his symptoms last season were similar."
