Charles Tapper
2016 · Round 4 · Pick 101 · DE · Dallas Cowboys
Charles Tapper Jr. grew up in Baltimore, raised by his mother, Rhonda, a school principal, after his father died when he was four. At Baltimore City College he focused on basketball and only started playing football as a junior, after his mother told him to join the team or get a job. At Oklahoma he started three seasons at defensive end. As a senior he had 50 tackles, seven sacks and four forced fumbles, and he was first-team All-Big 12 in 2013 and 2015. Dallas drafted him in the fourth round, 101st overall, in 2016, but a back condition (a pars defect) that had gone unnoticed since birth cost him that season. He appeared in two NFL games, with Dallas and the New York Jets, and recorded a sack. He is retired. The Oklahoman wrote on September 19, 2013: "Robinson, an assistant football coach at Baltimore's Calvert Hall College High School, started envisioning Tapper as a defensive end."
