Dru Samia
2019 · Round 4 · Pick 114 · OL · Minnesota Vikings
Dru Samia III was born in Danville, California, and played at San Ramon Valley High School. A four-star tackle recruit, he chose Oklahoma from 15 offers. After moving from right tackle to right guard in 2018, he won the Joe Moore Award with the OU line and was a second-team All-American, first-team All-Big 12 and Big 12 Co-Offensive Lineman of the Year. He made the All-Big 12 Academic Team twice. Minnesota drafted him in the fourth round, 114th overall, in 2019, and he played 15 games with four starts over two seasons. After time on the New York Jets' practice squad and reserve lists, he signed with the XFL's Arlington Renegades in 2024. He is now retired. Tidbit: he is half Samoan and has a tattoo honoring Samoan culture. The Oklahoman wrote on November 16, 2018: "Samia remembers days working with his uncle in the northern California summers, when the garage would close and Gilbert would tell him to do bear crawls while wearing a weight vest in the stifling heat."
