Geneo Grissom

2015 · Round 3 · Pick 97 · DE · New England Patriots

Geneo Grissom is from Hutchinson, Kansas. At Oklahoma he played as a reserve before breaking out in 2013, when he returned an interception 54 yards for a touchdown against Texas. In the Sugar Bowl after that season he had 2.5 sacks and two fumble recoveries against Alabama, returning one for a touchdown. He was honorable mention All-Big 12 in 2014. He finished his OU career with 88 tackles, eight sacks and two interceptions. At OU's pro day he also worked out in tight end drills, and Bill Belichick called them "as good as we saw all year." New England drafted him in the third round, 97th overall, in 2015, and he won Super Bowl LI with the Patriots. He later spent time with Indianapolis and New Orleans. His NFL totals are 14 tackles and one sack, and he is retired. The Oklahoman (Web Edition) wrote on September 7, 2014: "In the Sugar Bowl, Grissom scooped up the ball one-handed while running and then, with Alabama running back Derrick Henry grasping at his feet, dove and stretch [sic] the ball across the goal line to seal Oklahoma’s stunning win over the Crimson Tide."
