Jalen Hurts

2020 · Round 2 · Pick 53 · QB · Philadelphia Eagles

Jalen Hurts is from Houston and played for his father, Averion, at Channelview High School. As a senior he passed for 26 touchdowns and ran for 25. At Alabama he was SEC Offensive Player of the Year and Freshman of the Year in 2016 and won the 2017 national title. He transferred to Oklahoma for 2019, where he was a third-team All-American, first-team All-Big 12 and Big 12 Offensive Newcomer of the Year, and he led the Sooners to the College Football Playoff. Philadelphia drafted him in the second round, 53rd overall, in 2020. He was second-team All-Pro and won the Bert Bell Award in 2022, when he took the Eagles to Super Bowl LVII. He won Super Bowl LIX and was named its MVP, and he has three Pro Bowls (2022, 2023, 2025). His career totals are 18,824 passing yards and 118 touchdown passes. He is currently on injured reserve after the October 2026 blood-clot diagnosis that ended his season. Tidbit: as a high school sophomore he squatted 500 pounds in powerlifting. The Oklahoman wrote on March 29, 2019: "Hurts, you see, didn't go to daycare when he was little. He went to the field house after school."
