Marquis Hayes
2022 · Round 7 · Pick 257 · OG · Arizona Cardinals
Marquis Hayes Jr. was born in St. Louis and attended Pattonville High School in Maryland Heights, Missouri. He didn't play varsity football until his junior year but still became a four-star recruit, choosing Oklahoma over Miami, Missouri and others. After a redshirt year, he became the Sooners' starting left guard and started all 13 games, then started 11 at right guard in the shortened 2020 season. He returned for 2021 and started all 13 games back at left guard, earning second-team All-Big 12. Arizona took him with the 257th pick in the seventh round of 2022, and he spent his rookie year on injured reserve. He later had stints with Washington, Green Bay and the New York Jets, who released him from their practice squad on September 3, 2026. He is currently a free agent. Note: OU's official draft page lists him at pick 262. Wikipedia, the Cardinals and Pro Football Reference's OU draft table say 257, which this bio uses. The Oklahoman (Web Edition) wrote on April 28, 2022: "Hayes, a native of St. Louis, Mo., was a consistent starter on the Sooners' offense the past three seasons."
