Max Boydston
1955 · Round 1 · Pick 2 · E · Chicago Cardinals
Max Boydston was born in Ardmore, Oklahoma, and played at Muskogee High School. He was one of several 1950s Muskogee products, with the Burris brothers and Bo Bolinger, who earned national honors at OU. He was first-team all-conference at end three times (1952–1954) and a consensus All-American in 1954. The Chicago Cardinals drafted him second overall in 1955, and he played for them through 1958. He spent 1959 with the CFL's Hamilton Tiger-Cats, then played in the AFL for the Dallas Texans and Oakland Raiders, finishing with 97 catches for 1,328 yards. He later coached high school football in Texas and died on December 12, 1998. Pro Football Reference has a player page for him (linked below), but its stats weren't pulled for this bio. The Daily Oklahoman wrote on December 2, 1954 (NewsBank page 47): "End Max Boydston, Muskogee senior, led in pass receiving with 11 grabs for 276 yards and also in punting with 40.2 yards."
