Sam Bradford

2010 · Round 1 · Pick 1 · QB · St. Louis Rams

Sam Bradford was born in Oklahoma City and starred in football, basketball and golf at Putnam City North High School. He wasn't heavily recruited, but OU offered a scholarship. After a 2006 redshirt, he threw for 3,121 yards and 36 touchdowns as a redshirt freshman. In 2008 he won the Heisman Trophy, only the second sophomore to do so, after passing for 4,720 yards, 50 touchdowns and eight interceptions for what was then the highest-scoring offense in NCAA history. That team reached the BCS title game. St. Louis drafted him first overall in 2010, and he set the NFL record for completions by a rookie on his way to Offensive Rookie of the Year. He later played for Philadelphia, Minnesota (where he led the league in completion percentage in 2016) and Arizona. His career totals are 19,449 passing yards and 103 touchdown passes, and he is retired. Tidbit: he pitched in baseball before giving it up after his freshman year of high school. The Oklahoman wrote on January 14, 2009: "Bradford was recognized Tuesday by his hometown, as Oklahoma City Mayor Mick Cornett proclaimed the day "Sam Bradford Day."."
