Scott Case

1984 · Round 2 · Pick 32 · DB · Atlanta Falcons

Scott Case was born in Waynoka, Oklahoma, played at Alva High School and then at Edmond High School, where he was all-state. Oklahoma State pulled his scholarship offer, so he went to Northeastern Oklahoma A&M, where he won a junior-college national title and was an NJCAA All-American. At Oklahoma he started at cornerback, then moved to free safety as a senior in 1983. That year he tied the school single-season record with eight interceptions and made first-team All-Big Eight. Atlanta drafted him in the second round, 32nd overall, in 1984. He led the NFL in interceptions in 1988 and made the Pro Bowl that season. He played 11 seasons for the Falcons and won Super Bowl XXX with Dallas, finishing with 30 interceptions in 178 games. The Oklahoman wrote on December 31, 1981: "Scott Case of Edmond was a junior college all-American defensive back at Northeastern A&M at Miami and plans to sign a letter of intent with Oklahoma University today." The Oklahoman wrote on December 5, 1983: "OU free safety Scott Case, who set an OU season record with eight interceptions by grabbing two Saturday night, also had high praise for Murray."
