Stan West
1950 · Round 1 · Pick 12 · G · Los Angeles Rams
Stan West was born in Weatherford, Oklahoma, and played at Enid High School. He was a first-team All-American and all-conference lineman at Oklahoma in 1949. Bud Wilkinson called him one of the most talented players he ever coached. The Los Angeles Rams drafted him in the first round, 12th overall, in 1950. He won the 1951 NFL title with the Rams, made two Pro Bowls (1951, 1952), and was first-team All-Pro in 1952. He finished his career with the New York Giants and Chicago Cardinals (through 1957). Tidbit: he remained the highest-drafted OU offensive lineman until Jammal Brown went 13th in 2005. He died on January 19, 2005. Pro Football Reference has a player page for him (linked below), but its stats weren't pulled for this bio. The Daily Oklahoman wrote on January 23, 1950 (NewsBank page 37): "Two members of Oklahoma's unbeaten eleven were grabbed in the first round Saturday night—halfback George Thomas by Washington and guard Stan West by Los Angeles."
