Teddy Lehman

2004 · Round 2 · Pick 37 · LB · Detroit Lions

Teddy Lehman was born in Tulsa and starred at Fort Gibson High School, where he made more than 400 career tackles and also ran for 1,252 yards as a senior. He wasn't heavily recruited until he ran a 4.4-second 40 at an OU camp. In the 2001 Red River game he scored the clinching touchdown after Roy Williams' hit knocked the ball loose from Chris Simms. He was a consensus All-American in 2002. In 2003 he was a unanimous All-American, the Big 12 Defensive Player of the Year, and won both the Butkus and Bednarik awards. He was also on the 2000 national title team. Detroit drafted him in the second round, 37th overall, in 2004. He played for the Lions and Buffalo and won two UFL titles with the Las Vegas Locomotives (2009, 2010). His NFL totals are 151 tackles and two interceptions. The Oklahoman wrote on December 13, 2002: "Folks in Lehman's hometown of Fort Gibson say they knew early he was something special, but they're still boggled by the achievements of the kid they've known simply as "Teddy" since he was a small child."
