Travian Smith

1998 · Round 5 · Pick 152 · LB · Oakland Raiders

Travian Smith was born in Shepherd, Texas. He played linebacker at Oklahoma, and Oakland drafted him in the fifth round, 152nd overall, in 1998. He spent his entire seven-season NFL career with the Raiders (1998–2004), finishing with 220 tackles, 8.5 sacks and one interception. Note: his Wikipedia article is a short stub, so this bio is short. Pro Football Reference (PFR) lists him as Travian Damon Smith: born August 26, 1975 in Good Shepard, TX; high school Tatum (TX); 6-4, 240 lb; position LOLB. PFR shows him with OAK 1998-2004 (84 games, 16 starts, 14 Approximate Value). PFR stat line: 7 yrs: 1 Int (9 yds), 6 PD, 1 FF, 1 Fmb, 3 FR, 8.5 sacks, 241 comb tackles (182 solo, 59 ast), 21 TFL; postseason 3 G; page header weighted career AV 13. PFR shows no Pro Bowl or All-Pro honors. PFR also notes: header wAV 13 (7618th since 1960); table AV total 14. Source conflict: the bio's source gives his birthplace as Shepherd, Texas, and PFR gives "Good Shepard, TX."
