Travis Lewis
2012 · Round 7 · Pick 223 · LB · Detroit Lions
Travis Lewis is from San Antonio. At Robert E. Lee High School he ran for 1,436 yards as a senior tailback and played in the 2007 U.S. Army All-American Bowl. He backed out of a Nebraska commitment days before signing day and chose Oklahoma. As a freshman in 2008 he broke Brian Bosworth's OU freshman records for tackles in a season (144) and in a game (19, against Texas). He was a Freshman All-American and Big 12 Defensive Freshman of the Year, first-team All-Big 12 in 2008 and 2009, and second-team in 2010 and 2011. Detroit drafted him in the seventh round, 223rd overall, in 2012, and he played four seasons there, mostly on special teams, before a 2016 stint with Minnesota. His NFL totals are 32 tackles and one sack. He is retired. The Oklahoman wrote on April 30, 2012: "The Lions selected three Sooners - wide receiver Ryan Broyles, defensive end/linebacker Ronnell Lewis and linebacker Travis Lewis."
