Trent Williams

2010 · Round 1 · Pick 4 · OT · Washington Redskins

Trent Williams is from Longview, Texas. At Longview High School he was a unanimous all-district pick and a shot putter, and he played alongside future NFL players Malcolm Kelly and Chris Ivory. He chose Oklahoma over LSU, Oklahoma State and Texas A&M and started at right tackle as a true freshman in 2006. In 2008 he helped a line that allowed only 11 sacks while Sam Bradford's offense set scoring records. He was a consensus All-American in 2009. Washington drafted him fourth overall in 2010. He held out all of 2019 in a dispute over how the team handled a cancerous growth on his head, which private doctors later found to be life-threatening, and he was traded to San Francisco in 2020. He has made 12 Pro Bowls and five All-Pro teams, including first-team in 2021, 2022 and 2023. He has started 207 of his 208 games and is active with the 49ers. Oklahoma City Examiner wrote on August 26, 2010: "Williams had his arm wrapped after injuring his elbow and Donovan McNabb, the quarterback the Redskins drafted him to protect, was not much better."
