Tyrus Thompson
2015 · Round 6 · Pick 185 · OT · Minnesota Vikings
Tyrus Thompson was born in Germany and played football and track at Pflugerville High School in Texas, where he was a four-star tackle and a standout shot putter and discus thrower. At Oklahoma he split time with Lane Johnson in 2012, then became the primary left tackle in 2013. He started all 13 games as a senior in 2014 and was named first-team All-Big 12 by the league's coaches, ESPN and Fox Sports. Minnesota drafted him in the sixth round, 185th overall, in 2015, but he spent his rookie season on injured reserve before being released. Over the next two years he had brief stints with Jacksonville, Detroit, New Orleans, Carolina and Seattle. Note: Wikipedia lists no NFL game appearances, and he is retired. The Oklahoman wrote on October 27, 2014: "Olivia Thompson works full-time at 7-Eleven — logging long, difficult and sometimes overnight hours — which makes care for their 2-year-old son King and 8-month-old daughter Aria a daunting challenge."
