Victor Hicks
1979 · Round 5 · Pick 122 · TE · Los Angeles Rams
Victor Hicks was born in Lubbock, Texas, and lettered in three sports at Estacado High School. He was inducted into the Lubbock school district's Hall of Honor in 2024. He lettered four years at Oklahoma (1975–1978), starting on the 1975 national title team. In 1977 his three touchdown catches tied for the Big Eight lead despite only five receptions. The Los Angeles Rams drafted him in the fifth round, 122nd overall, in 1979, and he later played for the USFL's New Jersey Generals and Denver Gold. His NFL totals are 23 catches for 318 yards and three touchdowns. Pro Football Reference has a player page for him (linked below), but its stats weren't pulled for this bio. The Daily Oklahoman wrote on January 13, 1980 (NewsBank page 33): "The first to the infirmary, Hicks strained an Achilles tendon in early August and went on injured reserve." The same article says: "He has since recovered, however, and, although officially shelved, has been working out with the Super Bowl-bound Rams behind tight ends Terry Nelson and Charles Young."
