Zack Sanchez
2016 · Round 5 · Pick 141 · CB · Carolina Panthers
Zack Sanchez was born in Fort Worth, Texas, and attended Central High School in Keller, Texas. He switched his commitment from Baylor to Oklahoma. After a 2012 redshirt, he started for three seasons (37 career starts), finishing with 134 tackles, 15 interceptions and three touchdowns. He was first-team All-Big 12 in 2014 and 2015 and a second-team All-American in 2015, then left after his junior year. Carolina drafted him in the fifth round, 141st overall, in 2016, and he spent parts of two seasons with the Panthers. He then played for the AAF's San Antonio Commanders, where his end-zone interception sealed the 2019 season opener, and signed with the CFL's Saskatchewan Roughriders in 2020. He is retired. Tidbit: his 15 OU interceptions came in only three seasons as a starter. The Oklahoma Daily wrote on April 27, 2016: "A former three-star recruit out of Central High School in Fort Worth, Texas, Sanchez played both defense and offense as a wide receiver." The same article says: "Sanchez started 37 games in his collegiate career and recorded 15 interceptions in three seasons."
