Jalen Hurts

Quarterback · Philadelphia Eagles · active · OU 2019

One unforgettable Sooner season, then a Super Bowl MVP

Jalen Hurts grew up in Houston and played quarterback at Channelview High School, where his father, Averion Hurts, was the head coach.

He began his college career at Alabama (2016–2018), where he was named SEC Offensive Player of the Year as a true freshman in 2016 and later famously stepped in to help the Crimson Tide win the 2018 SEC Championship Game. As a graduate transfer, he came to Oklahoma for the 2019 season, and what a season it was. He led the Sooners to the College Football Playoff, was named Big 12 Offensive Newcomer of the Year and a third-team All-American, and finished second in Heisman Trophy voting to Joe Burrow.

The Philadelphia Eagles drafted him in the second round (53rd overall) in 2020. In April 2023 he signed a five-year, $255 million extension. His crowning moment came in Super Bowl LIX, when he threw for 221 yards and two touchdowns and ran for 72 yards and a score in a 40–22 win over Kansas City, earning Super Bowl MVP honors. He is a three-time Pro Bowler.

As of October 8, 2026, Hurts is the Eagles' active starting quarterback.
