Joe Mixon

Running back · No club · free agent · OU 2014-2016

Two-time Pro Bowl back now waiting on his next chapter

Joe Mixon grew up in the Bay Area and starred at Freedom High School in Oakley, California.

Mixon was rated a five-star recruit and the No. 1 running back in the nation by Rivals.com. He was part of Oklahoma's program from 2014 to 2016, sitting out his first year before becoming a dynamic dual-threat back, and in 2016 he earned first-team All-Big 12 honors.

The Cincinnati Bengals drafted Mixon in the second round (48th overall) in 2017. He became the centerpiece of their running game for seven seasons and made his first Pro Bowl in 2021, becoming the first Bengals running back to do so since 2004. Traded to the Houston Texans in 2024, he made an immediate splash with 159 yards and AFC Offensive Player of the Week honors in his debut, and he finished the year with 1,016 rushing yards and 11 touchdowns, earning a second Pro Bowl nod.

Mixon missed all of 2025 with a foot injury and was released by Houston on March 6, 2026. In early October he agreed to join the Seattle Seahawks' practice squad, but the deal was called off after a physical on October 6. As of October 8, 2026, Mixon is a free agent.
