Kyler Murray
Quarterback · Minnesota Vikings · active · OU 2016-2018
Heisman winner, MLB first-rounder, and now the Vikings' starter
Kyler Murray was born in Bedford, Texas, and became a legend at Allen High School, where he went 42–0 as a starting quarterback and was twice named Mr. Texas Football.
He began college at Texas A&M in 2015 before transferring to Oklahoma, where he backed up Baker Mayfield before taking over in 2018. That season was historic. Murray won the Heisman Trophy, giving OU back-to-back winners. He also played baseball for the Sooners, and the Oakland Athletics selected him ninth overall in the 2018 MLB draft.
Murray chose football, and the Arizona Cardinals made him the No. 1 overall pick in the 2019 NFL draft, the second straight year a Sooner QB went first. He was named NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year and later made two Pro Bowls. After injuries slowed him in later seasons, the Cardinals released him on March 11, 2026, and he signed a one-year deal with the Minnesota Vikings. He was named the starter on August 11.
As of October 8, 2026, Murray is the Vikings' active starting quarterback.
