Dennit Morris

Linebacker · 1 selection · deceased · OU 1955-1957

Two national titles at OU, two AFL titles in Houston and a 1961 AFL All-Star nod

Dennit Morris, from Tulsa, played football and baseball at Oklahoma and was part of the Sooners' 1955 and 1956 national championship teams. He played one NFL season, with San Francisco in 1958, then joined the Houston Oilers of the new American Football League.

The Oilers won the first two AFL championships, in 1960 and 1961. Morris was named an AFL All-Star for the 1961 season. The AFL had its own all-star game, separate from the NFL Pro Bowl, until the leagues merged. Pro-Football-Reference counts it as a Pro Bowl, and OU's Pro Bowl page also lists Morris, so he is included here and labeled as an AFL All-Star.

That gives him two college national titles and two pro league titles, with an all-star selection in the second of those championship seasons.

This is an early-era AFL selection, and sources are thin.
