Twelve Pro Bowls and counting: the most decorated Sooner in the NFL's all-star game
Trent Williams earned his first Pro Bowl nod after the 2012 season, when Washington sent three players to the NFC roster: Williams, rookie quarterback Robert Griffin III and special teamer Lorenzo Alexander. It started a run of seven straight selections from 2012 through 2018, all with Washington.
Not every honor ended with a trip to the game. After the 2017 season he finished on injured reserve with a knee injury, and the Rams' Andrew Whitworth took his place on the NFC roster.
After a trade to San Francisco, Williams went right back to the Pro Bowl in 2020, his eighth selection and first as a 49er, in a year when the game was played only virtually. He added nods in 2021, 2022 and 2023. The 2022 selection was his 10th, making him the ninth offensive lineman in NFL history to reach double digits. In 2023 the 49ers reached Super Bowl LVIII, so Tampa Bay's Tristan Wirfs took his roster spot.
He was named an alternate for the 2024 season, then returned for the 2025 season with his 12th selection. That made him only the fourth offensive lineman since 1970 to reach 12, joining Hall of Famers Bruce Matthews (14), Randall McDaniel (12) and Will Shields (12).
Among the 14 ex-Sooners soonersblog.com follows, nobody is close. No other former Sooner on OU's official Pro Bowl list has more than seven.
