The late box from Tampa is a 23–16 Vikings win, and neither offense got loose. Minnesota had 230 yards. Tampa Bay had 243. The Vikings were 2-of-15 on third down. The Buccaneers were 2-of-17. The points that decided it were a punt return and two field goals.

Will Reichard opened with a 54-yard field goal. Myles Price took the next punt 86 yards for a touchdown, and Minnesota led 10–0. Baker Mayfield answered with a 40-yard score to Ted Hurst III. Chase McLaughlin tied it from 28 in the second quarter. Kyler Murray then found Jordan Addison for 41 yards, and the Vikings led 17–10 at the half. McLaughlin hit from 38 in the third and from 54 in the fourth, and Tampa Bay was within 17–16. Reichard made it 20–16 from 56 with 3:10 left, then 23–16 from 43 with 33 seconds left.

Murray, in his first full game since a concussion in the opener, was 15-of-29 for 168 yards, the Addison touchdown, and an interception. Addison caught 5 passes for 90 yards. Minnesota sacked the Tampa Bay quarterbacks six times. The Buccaneers sacked Murray three times. Tampa Bay had two turnovers. Minnesota had one.

Mayfield was 17-of-34 for 217 yards, the Hurst touchdown, and an interception. He dislocated his right thumb on a late throw. X-rays were negative. Todd Bowles said the MRI is Monday. Rookie Jalon Daniels took the last snaps. The Vikings are 3–0. The Buccaneers are 0–3.
