Four Sooners, one flag, Devon Park

The AUSL regular season is in the books. The uniforms this week are not club colors. They are red, white, and blue, and they are hanging in a Devon Park clubhouse a short drive from Norman. Alyssa Brito, Jayda Coleman, Tiare Jennings, and Kelly Maxwell are on USA Softball’s World Cup Group C roster. They play Mexico, China, New Zealand, South Africa, and the Netherlands on the same dirt that hosted an Olympics rehearsal.

That is not a nostalgia tour. Jennings was MVP of the 2025 World Games. Coleman already has a gold medal from Chengdu. Maxwell, the 2024 WCWS Most Outstanding Player, is the left-handed answer in a national-team rotation. Brito, who hit .447 in her Spark debut a year ago, is the utility piece who makes a 16-woman roster look deeper than it is. Oklahoma led every college with four names on that World Cup list.

The rest of the pipeline did not clock out. Keilani Ricketts, Gabbie Garcia, and Kendall Wells wore USA Softball this summer on the Women’s Elite Team. Patty Gasso is the national-team head coach, which is another way of saying the same voice that built eight WCWS titles is now calling pitches for the country. Amber Flores still runs the Spark. The AUSL map still has a Sooner on every club.

The softball page used to be an AUSL census. That was never the whole story. The story is two circuits, one campus, and a Tuesday night in Oklahoma City with four former Sooners in Stars and Stripes. Watch the infield. Watch the left-handed lane. The flag is the chart now.
